The QA462 is a general-purpose power amplifier designed to drive everything from speakers to other reactive loads you might encounter during product development. The QA462 output is fully protected against over-current and over-temperature, and has heavy-duty Schottky diodes on the output to help cope with accidental output excursions beyond the supply rails.
The amplifier has a gain of 20 dB and an output monitor with a gain of -20 dB, allowing you to easily monitor the output of the QA462. If you input a signal at -10 dBV, the amplifier output will be at 10 dBV across theload, and the monitor port will show the signal across the load at -10 dBV. This brings the output level of the QA462 more in line with the current monitor port for most applications, ensuring you can minimize attenuator usage to keep noise levels low.
The QA462 improves the current measurement accuracy of the QA461. The QA461 current sensing relied on an INA199A1 with ±1.5% accuracy. The QA462 uses a laser-trimmed INA849 with ±0.02% accuracy. Overall, the current sense accuracy of the QA462 should achieve about ±0.5% for most measurements.
The QA462 includes a 12V/1.5A brick. For US customers, this will be a Tri-Mag L6R18-120 or similar. For customers outside the US, this will be a Phihong PSAA18U-120L6 or similar. Both have UL/CB/CE safety ratings, Class B EMI, 90-264V AC inputs, and Level VI efficiency. For customers outside of the US, you will need to provide your own cord to go from your local power standard to the IEC C14 input.
The front panel connector mates with a Molex 39534-0002, which is available at Mouser.
See the Product Sheet for the QA462 for more specifications and performance measurements.
See the QA462 Wiki on how to make a range of impedance measurements on both resistive, inductive and capacitive loads.
